For a line marked Replaced, the firm can defend it, repackage it, migrate the revenue, or harvest what’s left. The five tests that pick one are on the Three Shifts page.

What does this Index measure?
Every company in this census sells a product a buyer can buy today. What decides a practice’s exposure is whether your client can get the finished work without your firm. Where they can, we mark that practice replaced. Where they would have to hire an operator they do not employ, you keep the client at fewer hours, so we mark the practice repriced.
Where did the companies come from?
Systematic web research per service line, with a completeness pass. A company needs a sourced account of what it sells. This census covers 97 distinct companies across 14 practices.
How was each company placed?
A company is placed on a practice when it targets the work that practice bills for, and the verdict sits on the practice rather than on the company. Companies carry no per-vendor buyer tag: a tag read off marketing language names who a vendor courts rather than who may buy, and across a field of self-serve products it holds no information.
What counts as a service line?
14 practices with named competitors on the map.
What does this Index not cover?
Adjacent back-office tooling is excluded. Counts are a floor when sweeps are incomplete. Practices are not weighted by book share.
How should I read it?
A competitor named here isn’t lost revenue. The Index shows who is coming for the work, not billing that has already moved.

    Corrections and additions

This is a living census, not a closed report. If a company is missing, sits under the wrong service line, carries a verdict you can argue with, or has a better primary source, send it with a link. Useful for anyone who sees a gap in a service line they know, and for vendors who want the record accurate.
